Mercedes will announce if they use new engine on Friday

The choice of the world champions will be branched before free practice sessions of French GP

Mercedes wants to redeem defeat in Canadian GP, where Vettel and Ferrari dominated all the week-end without any kinds of problem. The Maranello team has switched to the second uptated power unit ( only with Vettel) in Montreal, unlike the Mercedes. The motorists directed by Andy Cowell found some problems during factory tests, so they decided to run in Canada with the old engine.

Only next friday we will know if the W09 will race with the new power unit. We don’t know if it’s a precaution or if there are still problems, maybe with the Approval of the FIA. We remember that the Mercedes has disputed with the first engine the 7 previous races, so has already traveled over 5500 km  both with Hamilton and with Bottas. Obviously if the new engine does not have to debut it would be a very difficult race, another one after the though experience in Canada.

Also Valtteri Bottas has confirmed the difficult period of Mercedes AMG Petronas’ team: ”We aren’t clearly the favorites for this week-end. This is a track with many slow corners, where we struggle like in Monaco and we have to work to improve this car. Our difficulties in canada are not just due to the engine, the car is not perfect”.
